  1. Have an excess of plastic seedling pots? Call the nursery and see if they'll take them back for reuse/recycling. #nurseryschool
  2. Get on mailing lists, join clubs, get in on the nursery buzz for sales & deals. #nurseryschool
  3. Keep your receipts in case something like a tree dies. Have a conversation with the garden center employee about it. #nurseryschool
  4. A potted plant in bloom is using up all its energy on blooming & not on establishing roots. #nurseryschool
  5. Plants in pots should have a lot of roots, but not be *all* roots. Watch out if it's got spirally roots around the bottom. #nurseryschool
  6. If you can't get the help you need at a garden center, don't buy. Do research and find help elsewhere. #nurseryschool
  7. Don't take things from other people's carts. You're at risk if you have good taste in plants. #nurseryschool
  8. Don't incite the ire of garden center employees by overdressing, smoking, dressing like a garden freak, stealing tags... #nurseryschool
  9. Garden center employees are you best resource. More so at mom & pop places-- they garden, they know their stuff. #nurseryschool
  10. Spend some time doing recon-- visit a couple nurseries and see where the deals are. #nurseryschool
  11. Bring photos of your empty spaces, bring data, bring measuring tape-- get help. #nurseryschool
  12. Make a list before you go to the nursery & stick to it. #nurseryschool
  13. Don't go near a nursery anytime near Mother's Day. Just wait until after. More parking, less crank, post-frost date #nurseryschool
