  1. let's hope tomorrow is more testing, trying to find a way thru the sustainability maze
  2. goodness knows how much they hate heat pumps of any kind
  3. first day of Green Register course, sort of eco-lite but it means well. Just surprising what u do know after all
  4. just what the client wants to do, wind them up big time. Get em out of the comfort zone
  5. I'm not sure Worcester is capable of managing anything cutting edge, we're going to frighten & upset folk - about time too
  6. some of designs are so watered down by meddling it's hard to maintain the idea & the quality
  7. after successful planning consent on Thursday my client is looking at another site for something much more cuttong edge
  8. they wouldn't want a building that was anything but what they are used to - frightens the teaching staff
  9. got to get my head around the design for a school library today; schoools are conservative environments, they struggle with creativity
  10. http://twitpic.com/qqq0p - The wall is longer than this, just need to extend foundations
  11. http://twitpic.com/qqpxx - The bale wall at Bramblings - gets me a 0.06 Wm2k U-value
  12. The sweeping straw bale wall is virtually complete; has a u-value of 0.06! That is performance
  13. it's not cutting edge, just good architecture with a balanced agenda. But I don't see a lot of it around
  14. That's sorted, I've overcome my worries and agreed with myself, Bramblings is a Level 4 CfSH home
  15. Any BREEAM assessors to Twit?
  16. anyhow retrospective assessment defeats the object - meaningless..... But I had to know!
  17. If I am borderline between Level 3 and 4 should I go back and get that extra 1.57 points? And then who is the fool? Best to keep it to mysel
  18. but am I fooling myself? If it does not seem to perform as well as expected do I go back at reassess my decisions?
  19. also took a stab at retrospective assessment of the new house under the Code for Sustainable Homes - easy enough to do
  20. Surely BREEAM should be holistic but there's not much scope for energy, water or ecology if a client won't adapt
