So, finally the system is able to boot from cd again. Total hours yesterday + today: 29 hours. About 2 hours work left for tomorrow. *ugh*

@ Looks like it. Updated firmware and now none of the standard boot sources work anymore. Reinstalling grub is a challenge this way.
