  8. @wvterry yes, I've talked with @fearfuldogs, thanks.

  11. @wvterry Absolutely! Hard to get the core of a writer in 140 or less. :-)
  12. @wvterry IMO, dogs lose when people act on their own emotional impulse in that situation.
  13. @wvterry but even gradual exposure can trigger panic, which is intolerable for some people, esp when it applies to dogs.
  14. @wvterry "flooding" carries a lot of negative/emotional weight, IMO. Confronting fear doesn't, yet the action is the same.

  16. Doesn't seem beneficial, long term? RT @wvterry Avoiding triggers goes along with the emotional numbing that you see with PTSD.
  17. @wvterry I teach dog and human clients to address fears whenever possible.
  18. @wvterry I question the term/implications as it implies to confronting irrational fears.
  19. @wvterry @MakikiGirl I personally prefer to learn how to stop being afraid than try to live life avoiding my "triggers."
  20. @MakikiGirl I've seen many dogs (and myself) experience great relief from fear after going through such an experience.
