  1. RT @RichardWiseman: My top ten science stunts for Christmas parties http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_f3SkxTWxc
  2. re @rands ("You empower by asking permission. #possiblyawarning") I'd only agree if the implied object of "empower" is "yourself".
  3. .@araneae I think that was the first time Wolfram Alpha beat Google as a search engine for me: http://bit.ly/5QIcf2 vs http://bit.ly/64rdqu
  4. Am always surprised by beauty & power of hacks chained http://bit.ly/4XhKKM (the music too, if you listen carefully http://bit.ly/4pXKAH)
  5. @araneae From you! You retweeted your newsycombinator message... :P
  6. RT @manojalpa: Euphoria! My one button game, Tipoli, is FINALLY out in the app store! Love story + minimal physics mechanic = win. http ...
  7. http://bit.ly/88OmJJ "Science Notes: Of Geeks and Girls" - reasoning about the 'geek' gender imbalance (bonus: interesting use of SL)
  8. @Soft @shlevy The whole of that e-mail, if you want to look at it yourself - http://bit.ly/558B6z
  9. @Soft @shlevy 'Foul' and hostilely antisocial, perhaps, but not evidence that he thinks cc wouldn't happen, or of fraud, collusion, etc
  10. @Soft @shlevy Finally found the mail: he's referring to a Y2K-esque situation - if you prevent it, hard to show prevention was needed
  11. @Soft @shlevy For the record, I don't know if the actual context vindicates it, but I object what I see as the total fabrication of context.
  12. @Soft @shlevy That isn't what one usually means by 'context'. :/ At least the e-mail, preferably the entire conversation?
  13. @shlevy Future data, obviously... :/ One of the best verifications of scientific correctness is if your predictions are observed.
  14. @shlevy @soft Context? Phil Jones is 57; perhaps he just wants to live long enough to see the data. Link please?
  15. (Seems RF-related; it happens if I unplug the laptop too.)
  16. My radio generates a high-pitched whine whenever I do anything remotely CPU-intensive on my laptop, like scrolling. :/ Why?
  17. I fail at twitter length restrictions & keep stringing 3+ tweets together. Would blog again, but it'd defeat the (supposed) time savings...
  18. @Soft So, embarrassing on a "not playing nice" and PR scale, not a "bad science" scale, AFAICT (and I presume thats the others' tack too)
  19. @Soft The one about deleting emails seems the only one really clear cut (but perhaps understandable with what's been done with the rest...)
  20. @Soft On redactions, mostly data they can't share themselves (must ask from original source), or some troll baiting b/c perceived FOIA abuse
