  1. Max Payne 3 really does have some 'what the FUCK were they thinking' moments.
  2. @TaleSpun Yeah, but even then the writing's really patchy.
  3. @TaleSpun than it is to extend roughly the same plot over a 15 hour, fairly punishing game.
  4. @TaleSpun Haha, I liked Man On Fire but it's pretty damn contrived. And it's a lot easier to sit back and watch a 2 hour film and not care
  5. @TaleSpun And, really, taking itself seriously only works if that approach is applied to everything in the game.
  6. @TaleSpun Agreed, it's like they were all 'TIME FOR MAX PAYNE TO TAKE ITSELF SERIOUSLY' but kind of didn't change anything but the tone.
  7. @TaleSpun It's a shame, as this should've been the definitive third person shooter of this gen, and it really isn't.
  8. @TaleSpun It feels really obstinate, like they were all 'these are the levels, NO DEBATE' and then just did it regardless of how it worked.
  9. @TaleSpun It'd work for like, one level, like you've come to rely on dodging around and then you briefly can't, but it's so frequent here.
  10. @TaleSpun If you want to make a gritty, realistic corridor shooter then do that instead, don't combine the two to negative effect.
  11. @TaleSpun I mean, I'm playing a guy who can slow down time and leap about. Let me DO that, then.
  12. @TaleSpun Developers forget that, while it's all well and good to restrict the mechanics they've implemented, there's kind of no need.
  13. @TaleSpun There's altogether too many corridor-y bits in the game for my liking. I get why they've done it, but they're not fun.
  14. @TaleSpun The cemetery scene is a great example of a bit that really, really works. Stadium, boat, not at all.
  15. @TaleSpun I think that's been a problem throughout tbh. Parts work really well, other parts just don't at all.
  16. @samwrite Pretty sure nearly all of it is down to some fairly thoughtless level design.
  17. @samwrite The irritating thing is that in some parts, it's a really good shooter, and in other parts the mechanics just don't work.
  18. @samwrite I also once took damage in a cutscene.
  19. @samwrite I hate how the checkpoints sometimes start you with your back to an enemy, and nothing you can do about it.
  20. @AnActualPokemon Surely I must be near the end now. Please. :(
