  9. Putting hiway by river=20th century idea. Portland REMOVED a hiway by their park. So did NYC. So will we in 50 yrs if we build in floodway.
  10. Corps just rated levees unacceptable. New concerns that rd's piers will penetrate/weaken levees. Sand in levees complicates rd construction.
  11. I just spoke: Tollroad has delayed: critical levee improvements, park, SM Wright Fwy reconstr. Now has $1B funding shortfall.
  12. The NTTA & TXDOT are still doing their slideshow. Mind-numbing. They shoulda done this earlier so there'd be more time for public comment.
  13. At the public hearing on the Trinity Toll Road. Come by and speak if you're inclined. There's still plenty of time. Convention Center Arena.
  14. Reapiring houses in North Park/Love Field neighborhood with United Methodist Church Amigos program.

  16. Texas' urban areas have suffered funding-wise. Texas is abt 46th in nation on per capita mental health spending.
  17. Dallas region serves about 17% of Texas' mentally ill on 7% of state's funding.
  18. Visiting "Well Community" in Oak Cliff -daytime activity center for nearby boarding houses. Neighborhood residents have seen improvements.
  19. At "Saturday Market" in Old Town Portland. Tons of people, lots of outdoor stalls and vendors. Very fun. Dallas needs this.
  20. Like Seattle, Portland has diverse types of bicycle routes for different levels of riders: striped lanes, boulevards w/shared access, etc.
