  1. Folks from each company joined our ride on Monday; did 36 miles and had more than 20 riders at times. Some serious riders in the group!
  2. In NLR visited Orbea, Competitive Cyclist and Garver engineering - all potential bicycle friendly businesses; all enjoying area trails.
  3. Two great days in North Little Rock; Big Dam Bridge is pretty damn impressive; community is def. on the move, led by inspiring Mayor Hays.
  4. I'll be winging my way to North Little Rock for two busy days looking at bicycle friendliness of the city. Never been before.
  5. Wish I could be at El Tour de Tucson this weekend, 1 of the best 1 day rides out there. Organizers say there is still space.
  6. I'm excited: first few people have signed up for the National Bike Summit next March already; www.bikeleague.org for info.
  7. Bike hall of fame sure had a mix last night. Nelson Vails (olympian), Clayton John (Mr BMX), and Phyllis who joined LAB in 1937.
  8. Heading back to DC after looong but enjoyable us bicycling hall of fame induction dinner. I got to introduce Phyllis Harmon - 93 years old!
  9. Gorgeous day to follow two itineraries on brand new Calistoga bike route map; rode all over town - its similar to Jackson, Park City etc.
  10. Gave their bronze bike friendly community award today then rented from Calistoga Bike Shop and rode for a couple of hours. Really good!
  11. Sorry to have stopped tweeting for so long. Inspired to start again by a few hours in Calistoga, California!
  12. Forgot to share great slogan from the transit guy - I was distracted."If you want to text, talk, or tweet, take transit!" Cute, eh?
  13. Lots of groups represented at DD summit. Anti-texting- victim rights- and commercial safety groups, some insurance companies.
  14. Phew! Can call off the dogs from utah dude. Talked to him; wants bikes to be big part of transit system as he sees in Europe.
  15. And his comment was in response to MY plea to get more people taking transit, riding and walking not driving. With friends like these...
  16. Wow. Head of the Utah transit agency John Inglish says cyclists distract and obstruct bus drivers and should be moved out of the way.
  17. AAA Foundation speaker describes "terrible disease of mobility" and says AAA has endorsed 100% anti-texting legislation for all drivers.
  18. Amazing that both LaHood and Mendez (FHWA) talk about accidents not crashes. Will be spanked by NHTSA colleagues later?
  19. More than 200 bills in 40-plus states this year to tackle distracted driving - going to be THE topic come January legislative season.
  20. At DOT distracted driver summit in DC. Talked to Secretary LaHood already to assure cyclists support for action. Lots of suits here.
