  1. About 5 cm. above the wrist it ends by dividing into a dorsal and a volar branch.
  2. In the upper third of the forearm, it is separated from the ulnar artery, but in the rest of its extent lies close to the med side of the aa
  3. Its upper half is covered by the Flexor carpi ulnaris, its lower half lies on the lat side of the muscle, covered by the integument and fascia
  4. In the forearm, the ulnar nn descends along the medial side lying upon the Flexor digitorum profundus.
  5. At the elbow, it rests upon the back of the medial epicondyle, and enters the forearm between the two heads of the Flexor carpi ulnaris.
  6. It pierces the medial intermuscular septum, runs across Triceps brachii, and descends to the groove between the medial epicondyle &olecranon
  7. Ulnar nn originates medial to the axillary artery, and bears the same relation to the brachial artery as far as the middle of the arm.
  8. It arises from the medial cord of the brachial plexus, and derives its fibers from the eighth cervical and first thoracic nerves.
  9. The Ulnar Nerve is placed along the medial side of the limb, and is distributed to the muscles and skin of the forearm and hand.
  10. The medial portion of the nerve divides into two common volar digital nerves.
  11. Laterally it supplies Abductor brevis mm, Opponens,& superficial head of the Flexor brevis, then divides into 3 proper volar digital nerves
  12. Immediately after emerging from under the transverse carpal ligament the nn becomes enlarged&flattened &splits into a lateral&medial portion
  13. In the palm of the hand the median nerve is covered by the skin and the palmar aponeurosis, and rests on the tendons of the Flexor muscles.
  14. The palmar branch of median nerve arises at the lower part of the forearm. It pierces the volar carpal lig.& divides into a lat&medial branch
  15. It accompanies the volar interosseous aa along the front of the interosseous membrane, in the interval between the FPL and FDP
  16. The volar interosseous nerve supplies the deep muscles on the front of the forearm, except the ulnar half of the Flexor digitorum profundus.
  17. Muscular branches come from the nerve near the elbow&supply all the superficial muscles in front of the forearm, except Flexor carpi ulnaris
  18. In the forearm its branches are: muscular, volar interosseous, and palmar.
  19. With the exception of the nerve to the Pronator teres, which sometimes arises above the elbow, the median nn gives off no branches in the arm
  20. Median nn then passes behind the transverse carpal ligament into the palm of the hand.Through the forearm it is accompanied by the median aa
