  1. [Is there going to be a sequel to the movie?] "Well there's nothing announced, but if I got the opportunity I'd love to do it again."
  2. "There's a huge gap, actually. They're very advanced. I look at what American developers are doing and I think wow... Japan is in trouble."
  3. [Why did Konami choose The Collective?]"Basically their graphical skill. They also really understand the world and concept of Silent Hill."
  4. [What bands do you like right now? Top five?] "The Cult, PJ Harvey, Massive Attack, Metallica, and HIM."
  5. [Composers he admires] "Mr. Uematsu and Mr. Kondo. I respect them both."
  6. [On His CD, iFuturelist] "It's different from Silent Hill-type music. I think it has a lot of smiley humor. Smiley? Something like that."
  7. "I like '80s music very much, like electro-type music. It sounded cool and soulful."
  8. [On the composing the movie soundtrack] "I didn't want to make the game music like a movie, I wanted to make the movie more like the game."
  9. [When you were first making music 20 years ago, it was chip tunes? Like Famicom sound?] AY: "Exactly! Only three sounds at the same time."
  10. [So you taught yourself music?] AY: "Yes."
  11. "I was a designer in the first place, working with CG stuff, but I began to play around with music and thought 'hey, this is interesting!'"
  12. [Do you play a lot of games?] "Yes, I do. Actually, currently I’m playing Resident Evil 4; it’s a great game."
  13. "Yes, in Silent Hill 4, the psychological aspect was a very big part of the gaming experience."
  14. "I feel that the characters in SH4 are weak and that if I had time, I would have created stronger characters for the gamer to relate to."
  15. "Every sound and every line of sound that is in the game is done by me. And, I make all my own sound effects, too."
  16. "SH is developed in Japan, but its taste in horror isn’t Japanese. Still, deep inside the game, there’s a bit of Japanese horror elements."
  17. "In the world of creative expression, I do not think there is any border whether it is music or drawings."
  18. on Creating Music: " I let my imagination construct the music and I believe that my personal experience is reflected to my imagination."
  19. There are no special rituals that I go through. I sit in front of my tools, PC, keyboard etc & I build up the sound through trial and error.
  20. "I appreciate the Silent Hill franchise and the fans and that I have the privilege to create the sound for this series."
