  1. Back in Melbourne. Why could it not have been this hot when I was at the beach?
  2. Sherlock Holmes was surprisingly great! Fresh, witty and faithful to the stories and characters in all the ways that matter.
  3. Off to see Sherlock Holmes: Kung Fu action version. It must at least be better than Avatar.
  4. Work: over! Canberra: tomorrow! Cocktails: imminent!
  5. Just hit 40,000 words in my novel. Hooray! I've earned my holiday now.
  6. @labcoatman Great article Ben, it fully articulated a lot of the thoughts I had after seeing the movie.
  7. @Destructor @YogaChicky There is already an irony mark! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony_mark
  8. @talumin You mean my blue alien package comment, or J.Cam's tit fetish? Both are pretty creepy.
  9. It's official - in the world of James Cameron, tits trump science and logic: http://bit.ly/UxATV
  10. @talumin The blue alien package in Watchmen was far better than the one in Avatar. As was the entire movie.
  11. @shazberry I can believe it - I don't work there! And last time I went everyone went on about how brave I was to go and it was awkward.
  12. @talumin It's like Cameron thought that if it was wrapped up in a shiny blue alien package, no-one would notice that it's totally derivative
  13. @labcoatman Let's start an Avatar wave! I have to say I wasn't too impressed either, once I looked past the glowy shiny things.
  14. @talumin Yes. You could also say that it's 'Pocahontas' with blue furry aliens. Or 'Dune' with blue furry aliens.
  15. Well, Avatar was certainly visually breathtaking, but otherwise pretty ordinary.
  16. @cinemaviscera Hmm. The true Holmes would never let a woman handcuff him to a bed! Watson, on the other hand...
  17. @Destructor MY calendar is made of computer! I send you greetings from the future.
  18. Survived a walk down Bourke St mall and back with minimal seething rage. I have achieved Christmas zen.
  19. @cinemaviscera Somehow I don't think the movie will bear too much resemblance to the stories...
  20. Thought I saw a Bajoran in the street, but it was just a guy wrinkling up his nose in scorn or disgust. Too much Star Trek for me.
