AUSTINSWEATHER

  1. Dense fog until 9am or so. Visibilities less than 1/4 mile at times. Should lift quickly and skies will become m. sunny. High: 64..finally
  2. Rain just about done. Skies clearing slowly to our west in the Hill Country. It probably won't reach AUS until 4 or 5pm though.
  3. Soggy start to the day...but rain should end around 10am. Clouds will be tough to break...but we should see some sun late PM. High: 57.
  4. Bike ride into work started out foggy downtown; turned into clear but windy and cooler ride in N. Austin. Cold front moving thru . High: 53.
  5. The sun's coming...trust me!!. Sun is over LK Travis and moving into W AUS. Temps are in the upper 60s in the sun. Temps will rise quickly
  6. Here comes the sun. Temps will jump quickly through the 60s behind this warm front....but a cold front arrives late tonight. 50s tommorrow.
  7. The sun is breaking up the low clouds to our west and should arrive to Austin within the hour. Temps will quickly climb into the 60s then.
  8. It's been a drippy and dreary morning. This drizzle/light rain will move east of I-35 corridor early this afternoon.
  9. Flurries have developed in AUS. A band of light snow moving through the nw Hill Country may clip AUS around Noon. Minor accumulation if any
  10. Black Ice has closed Southbound 183 to Sbound I-35 ramp. Patches of Black Ice have developed on other overpasses as well. Drive carefully.
  11. Becareful on overpasses. "Black ice" or transparent ice has formed on some of the fly-overs in Austin even though air temps are above 32
  12. We've had reports of patches of black ice on some of the roads. Moisture is coming out of the pavement & is evaporationally cooling to 32.
  13. The leading edge of light snow has moved into Mason county. This should arrive in the Austin area around 9am or so. Looking at less than 1"
  14. La Grange-Brenham-College Station may see 1-3". Just west and North of Houston 3-6".
  15. Early wx model just in. Not much change. Light snow/flurries move into Austin after 10am and continue until mid-PM. Minor accumulation.
  16. I still think about 40-60 miles inland from the Gulf Coast could be a band of a half foot of snow or maybe more...just West of Houston.
  17. Hmmm. It looks like we will see the lighter snow...less than 1"..but I think the NWS is missing the potential for a heavy band of snow east.
  18. Models getting in agreement here. Heaviest snow will fall 70-80 miles east of Austin to NW Houston. We may get up to an inch starting mid-AM
  19. AM Models in. Still cold for snow. Model1 is fairly dry;light snow/flurries late Fri AM->late PM. Model2 is wetter with accumulation. Update
  20. Models keep us cold enough for all snow. Question is how much. 1 keeps us kinda dry..with only flurries. 2nd is wet..heavy snw. Will update
