  1. @sherod Could it be because "CPU / SIMD" doesn't mean graphics hardware acceleration? Wouldn't it report, "Direct3D" or "OpenGL" for that?
  2. @sherod Interesting that so much hardware acceleration is apparently being used, given that it's so slow.
  3. Wondering when we'll see more handset makers sign up to use JavaFX Mobile. Still hoping that RIM see the light on this some day.
  4. @JonathanGiles Yes, nice to have a JavaFX example without effects. For comparison, Flash can do > 300,000 3D particles - http://bit.ly/aoVJZ
  5. Seeing some "surprising" companies closing substantial Series A rounds of venture capital. VCs clearly wanting to spend money right now.
  6. A little surprised that Nokia has sold Symbian's Professional Services division; and even more surpsied that Accenture is the buyer.
  7. I love that so many celebrities seem to need help - from friends and from Twitter staff - to "get set up" on Twitter.
  8. After an exclusive period with C# and C, it's back to some Java. Pity can't use JavaFX - would have suited this project quite nicely.
  9. As I thought, Office 2010 web apps are huge JavaScript apps. Very technically complex to do. Wonder if MS built any dev tools to help them?
  10. @JonathanGiles Surely JavaFX needs more community discussion, not less. It's not a good sign if Sun is afraid of open honest discussion.
  11. Please Sun - lose the JavaFX branding on startup - including on mobile. It ruins the end-user experience. How hard is this to understand?
  12. @lqd If 3-D support in JavaFX isn't coming this year, it'd be nice to be told... given that it was originally slated for the 1.0 release.
  13. @lqd Yes, Slim Shady lookd like it was pretty interesting. I'm assuming Prism is closer to being ready to release, and that's why it won.
  14. @lqd LOL @ projecting an Excel spreadsheet onto a 3-D model of Eric Schmidt! Easy to do in Slim Shady at 60fps... errr oops... scratch that!
  15. @lqd I'd be surprised (and impressed) if Silverlight. Expecting JavaScript - they have the resources to develop complex web apps in that.
  16. @lqd Yes. I'd expect it to be quite impressive. Wonder if Larry Ellison's suggestion of JavaFX Open Office will get even close to it...
  17. @sebsto Why? Because the network is not the same thing as the web browser.
  18. @lqd Seems that Google folks apparently believe their products seriously compete with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  19. Really hope the JavaFX decision makers "get it". We've seen mediocre FX demos described as amazing, while impressive work is being canned.
  20. The now dead JavaFX Slim Shady project looks like it could have been pretty interesting. I trust that Prism will be equally impressive...
